How to play SVCD and SXVCD
using MacVCD X
Mac OS X Video Media Player

MacVCD X can play Super VCD and Super XVCD movies from your computer or from a CD.

Requirements

  • a SVCD or XSVCD
  • MacVCD X Video Media Player
  • Apple's MPEG-2 Playback Component installed**
    or
    The MPlayer component installed


    Instructions

    1.

    If you haven't already done so, buy and install Apple's MPEG-2 Playback Component, or install the MPlayer component.

    • Apple MPEG-2 Playback Component
      • To buy the MPEG-2 Playback component, go to the Apple Web Store
      • To install the MPEG-2 Playback component, double-click the installer and follow the instructions
    • MPlayer component
      • To use the Integrated MPlayer feature, you must have the MPlayer component installed. The first time you use this feature, MacVCD X will automatically find and install this component for you.



    2.

    To run MacVCD X, double click the MacVCD X icon.

    Insert an SVCD or SXVCD into the CD drive. It will play automatically.

    If the SVCD does not play automatically, click the play button. (refer to the MacVCDX Read Me (pdf))

    To play an SVCD that's stored on a hard drive, from the Menu, use File>Open, navigate to the MPEGAV file and click the Open button.


    4. If the VCD does not play automatically (like if it's stored on a hard drive) click the Play button. For information about controls, refer to the MacVCDX Read Me (pdf)

    or

    To play using the integrated MPlayer feature, choose "Open with mplayer" from the file menu (File>Open with mplayer). To stop the movie, press the "Esc" key.
