- Although MP3 DVD can be played on many DVD players, and some car stereos, not all DVD Player hardware supports MP3 playback. Check your Owner's Manual.
- MP3 DVD can be played on your Mac using MP3 player software such as Music Man or iTunes.
- MP3, short for MPEG-1/MPEG-2 Layer 3, is the defacto-standard format for storing compressed digital audio. Most computer users are familiar with the MP3 format. While it is not strictly correct, the term “MP3 Player” has come into common usage to describe software and hardware products that work with not only the MP3 format but also other compressed digital audio formats.
- Money Saving Tip: Test with a DVD-RW to make sure the music fits and that the DVD is the way you want it. Once the DVD-RW is correct, then burn the final project to a DVD-R. You can then erase the DVD-RW and use it again as a master for your next project.
- Stress Saving Tip: If you're going to play your MP3 DVD on a DVD player, car stereo or if you are responsible for bringing all the music to your brother's wedding, read this carefully. Not all DVD players will play MP3 DVD, especially the older ones. In addition, not all DVD players will play DVD-Rs or DVD-RWs. That's because although they all look the same to you, they're not all the same to your hardware. Make a test DVD with just a few songs on it, and get it to play on your hardware to verify it will play. Once you've got it working, then continue with your project.
